Fun Race!

Canyon’s Snow School programs are coming to an end soon and Canyon is hosting a FUN RACE alongside our Ski Clubs (Red Deer Alpine Ski Racing & Central Alberta Freestyle Club)!

 

Who: Any SKIERS aged 6-12 years old are welcome to register, registration closes the night before!
 
 
What: A dual stubbies course will be set up half way up the Blue Tbar so 2 kids kids can race at the same time. Guaranteed at least 2 race runs! Best time wins! Boys and Girls will be separated into age categories ( 6-9 year olds & 10-12 year olds)
 
 
When: SUNDAY MARCH 17th
1-2pm Practice Runs
2-4pm Races & Awards
 
 
Where: Halfway up the Blue T-bar- Children MUST BE able to ride the T-bar independently and PARENTS are welcome to SKI or just watch from the bottom. BUT CHILDREN ARE NOT BEING DIRECTLY SUPERVISED OR ACCOMPANIED BY ANY CANYON STAFF OR SKI CLUB MEMBERS.
 
Registration is on-site at Canyon Ski Resort with $15 race fee due at the time of signing up.
 
 
Ski Club coaches and Canyon Snowschool staff members are present but it is the parents responsibility to ensure the kids are at the Snowschool meeting place ready at 12:45 for Attendance when their name is called at 12:45pm just prior to the practice hour. Please ensure one parent is onsite at all times for this event, we encourage as many parents as possible to be on snow!
 
 
COST $15 a child (Lift ticket is not included and must be purchased separately if not already a multiday or season pass holder). Ribbons and prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category! Goody bags for ALL kids registered! The clubs will be onsite to answer any questions and talk about what Ski Clubs can offer your children for NEXT SEASON!

Springbreak Snowboard Camps: 7-13 Years

Sign up for one camp or both to make it a 4-day program!

Designed by CASI certified instructors for riders between 7-13 years old and runs from 10am-4pm.

In the Beginner Camp, instructors will primarily concentrate on developing snowboarding skills while having students participate in interactive drills and fun winter activities.

In the Advanced Camp, the instructors will be progressing campers on the hill to be more confident on intermediate-advanced runs.

The days will include rest periods, a break for lunch and any potentially needed cold weather breaks. Lunch and snacks are not provided.

Participants MUST have prior snowboarding experience. Even the Beginner Springbreak Camp enrollment requires previous introduction/basic knowledge of snowboarding.

Christmas Snowboard Camps: 7-13 Years

Our 2-Day Christmas Camps are the perfect way to holiday! Register for one 2-day program or multiple to build a 4-day or 6-day camp!

Available for Beginner / Advanced Ability Levels

Designed by CASI certified instructors for riders between 7-13 years old and run from 10am-4pm.

In the Christmas Camps, children will be supervised by Certified Instructors from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Instructors will primarily concentrate on developing skills while participating in interactive drills and fun activities. In the Advanced Camp, the instructors will progress campers on the hill to be more confident on the intermediate and advanced runs. The days will include rest periods and cold weather breaks if required.

The days will include rest periods, a break for lunch and any potentially needed cold weather breaks. Lunch and snacks are not provided.

Kick Start Snowboard X Academy: Ages 7-16

This 10-week program works on building and developing riders technical skills in a fun, safe, and recreational way!

Meant for those who are at the intermediate level who are riding the t-bar and chair lifts independently and looking to start getting confidence with speed and small/beginner jumps.

The program focuses on technical skiing and race discipline at a grassroots level. Using brush-gate training, increasing participants’ comfort with speed, contoured grooming (banked turns, rollers, wu-tangs), and small jumps (with minimal airtime), participants improve their adaptability on snow in a fun, team environment.

Canyon’s Snowboard X Academy ends its season with a fun Ski/Snowboard X Race hosted at Canyon for the program participants!

Required Experience:
All registrants must be at an intermediate level or higher and must be able to ride the T-Bar and Chair Lift independently.

8:1 Rider to Instructor Ratio

With this program, we recommend purchasing a Season Pass as they pay for themselves with just 10 visits. The program requires participants to have their own gear. We recommend purchasing used gear from our rental shop over renting each day if you do not already have your own equipment.

This Snow School Program requires a minimum of 6 registrants or will be subject to cancelation. Notice will be given 48 hours prior to any canceled programs and a full refund will be provided.
