Canyon Summer Weather Policy

SUMMER WEATHER POLICIES
Canyon Ski Resort prioritizes the safety of both our staff and guests during adverse weather conditions. The following policies detail our procedures in various situations:

HEAVY RAINFALL
The Canyon Coaster can operate during light rain. Should heavy rain be forecasted, Canyon Ski Resort may decide to delay opening or suspend operations for part or all of the day. If heavy rainfall begins during operational hours, management will suspend activities until conditions improve. If the inclement weather persists, management may decide to offer rain checks to guests.

THUNDERSTORMS
Thunderstorms pose serious hazards and demand immediate action. Our team will closely monitor weather reports and local conditions during storms or severe weather alerts. If conditions are deemed unsafe for any activities, an announcement will instruct all staff and guests to seek shelter in the lodge. It is imperative that coaster operations cease immediately upon hearing thunder, seeing lightning, or receiving severe weather warnings in close proximity.

After the last lightning sighting or thunderclap, Canyon Ski Resort will wait for a minimum of 30 minutes before resuming outdoor activities.

SEVERE HEAT
In the event of an extreme heat advisory issued by the local weather network, management will assess the situation on a case-by-case basis to determine whether closure is necessary.

POOR AIR QUALITY
When the Air Quality Index reaches 7 or higher (High Risk/Very High Risk), indicating compromised air quality, we may opt to close to the public until conditions improve. Our staff will continuously monitor the Air Quality Index throughout the day, utilizing data from the Alberta Air Quality Health Index website.

While we strongly urge compliance with safety procedures during severe weather events, individuals are ultimately responsible for their actions. Leaving the premises during severe weather is at one’s own risk, and Canyon Ski Resort cannot be held liable for any consequences arising from ones personal actions.

If Canyon has to close because of extreme weather, all online purchases will be contacted via email and their purchase will be credited on file for a future rebook. These credits do not expire and you will receive a confirmation email showing the credits on file. To rebook, please reply to this email with a new date and time. All walk-up ticket holders must stop by our Guest Services Office prior to departing or save their tickets for proof of transaction.
